US Science & Engineering Event

Disney has partnered with the National Academy of Engineering and its Grand Challenges to create a TRON-themed exhibit for the USA Science & Engineering Festival. This festival will be Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 and Sunday, Oct, 24, 2010, on the National Mall (Washington, DC). It is free of charge and open to the public.

More information about the festival is available at: www.usasciencefestival.org.

The TRON exhibit can be found on the National Mall at Section NM-1, Booth Number 102.

Kids and families will be able to explore the visually-stunning cyber universe of Disney's upcoming theatrical release TRON: Legacy. They will be able to participate in activities that bring to life some of the science & engineering concepts from the film, including virtual reality and laser scanning, which are related to two of this century's Grand Challenges for Engineering.

  • Hands-on activities. Try laser scanning and virtual brain surgery in these activities that bring science and engineering concepts from the film to life.
  • Demonstrations. See and participate in live demonstrations of motion capture, which is used to create some of the visual effects in TRON.
  • Meet a real-life Disney Imagineer

Discuss some of these themes with Lanny Smoot, a real-life Disney Imagineer. The event is the result of a partnership between The Walt Disney Company, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
