- Brand new ship names have been added to the Ship Naming list, as submitted by you Pirates through the Grog Blog.
- Jolly Roger's forces should now invade normally again - normal for the undead, that is. Invasions now begin and end properly, with more balanced waves of enemies.
- Cave environments have been made stable once again.
- The two unnamed coats available for male Pirates through the Tailors on Tortuga, Cuba, and Padres de Fuego are now displaying with their proper names.
- When Pirates are caught cheating at cards, the full penalty is now clearly messaged.

- Entering cave environments may cause Pirates to fall through the map into a stuck state. If stuck, you can recover by switching to another Ocean, or logging out and re-entering the Caribbean.

- There is an issue with Invasions starting or ending incorrectly on Port Royal, Tortuga, and Padres del Fuego.
- Jolly Roger doesn't know when to quit! There is also an issue with Invasions where ol' Jolly cannot be defeated and his undead minions run rampant.

- Crewed Pirates are able to board a ship that is docking even though the ship's Captain has made it back to shore.

- Oceans with Full status are sometimes appearing as Quiet.
- On an Ocean with Full status, entering into activities such as the Black Pearl Quest or Parlor Games may result in getting stuck on a black screen.
- Workaround: Please close the game window and re-login, and play on a Quiet Ocean to avoid this possible issue and interrupted gameplay.

Known Issues - October 7, 2011
- Occasional crashes may occur when teleporting or walking through doors or tunnels. When reporting these bugs, please be very specific where you were and what you were doing at the time of the crash.
- Pirates may teleport under land or be able to access out of game world environments near the shoreline. Please report any bugs you may encounter using the in-game feedback form and be very specific where you were and what you were doing at the time.
- Occasionally ships will slide across the water. We will be fixing this as soon as possible.

- Pirates can dare to become a "Scoundrel of the Seas" now on the Test Servers. Set sail, plunder all you can from enemy ships and try to unlock all the Scoundrel levels.

Release Notes - March 25, 2010
- El Patron's Lost Weapons have been found!
- Hundreds of new weapon items can now be discovered in-game.
- Enemies and ships now drop loot containers, which contain a variety of treasure.
- Sailing Items can be found in loot containers, which can help improve your sailing skills.
- New skills can be found on some of these new weapons. These skills can only be used when the weapons are being used. There are also two new types of skills:
- Break Attacks - Powerful special attacks that can be used when you are in a tough battle. These skills only recharge when you take damage. Completing a Combo Attack also helps recharge a Break Attack.
- Defense Skills - These skills protect the player by automatically blocking incoming attacks. Defense skills recharge normally and cannot be triggered manually by the player.
- Pirates now have 4 Weapon Slots, so you can choose what weapons you have equipped.
- Pirates now have 1 Sailing Item Slot, which gives the pirate bonuses while sailing or using cannons.
- Some new items are also available in stores for purchase.
- Pirates can now change their clothes, tattoos and jewelry without having to visit stores.

- Added new Quests for Level 5 Weapons. These new Quests are unlocked when a weapon reaches Level 20 and only after the Level 4 Weapon Quest for that weapon has been completed. These new Quests involve defeating Boss Enemies, so make sure you have a crew to help fight them! The Level 5 Weapons are:
- Pirate Blade (L5 Cutlass Weapon)
- Bloodletter Dagger (L5 Dagger Weapon)
- Grand Pistol (L5 Pistol Weapon)
- Taboo Doll (L5 Voodoo Doll Weapon)

- Boss Enemies can now be found in the Caribbean. They are marked by a glowing skull icon over their heads and are much more difficult to defeat than normal enemies of the same level. Some boss enemies will always spawn in the same location, while others are more rare and randomly spawn throughout the world.
- The Dagger has been rebalanced with new abilities:
- Backstrike - Attacking an enemy in the back using a Combo Attack now does a
Backstrike and deals extra damage. However, attacking an enemy from the front with a Combo Attack
deals less damage than before.
- Attunement Breaking - The Asp and Throw Dirt skills now can break Voodoo Doll Attunement on players and enemies. If a player using a Voodoo Doll is hit by these skills, they will lose their attunement and will need to re-attune their targets. Also, players who recently had an Attunement broken will be immune to further Attunement breaking for 30 seconds. Skeleton enemies who have their Attunement Broken will be unable to cast voodoo hexes for a short time.
- Interrupt Ability- The Asp, Throw Dirt, and Viper Nest skills can now Interrupt another player who is charging an attack (such as Take Aim, Long Volley, and Staff Hexes). Interrupting a charge will cause that player to have to start his charge over again.
- Throw Dirt also now gives a 25% reduced accuracy instead of 40% and lasts a shorter duration.
- Trainer NPC's at local blacksmiths can now retrain your weapons, by retraining a weapon you can refund all your spent skill points and allow you to re-choose your skills for that same weapon.
- Captains now have more control over who boards their ships with a new ship-boarding permission system. Additionally, players at dinghies now have a better interface for finding ships to board.
- The Game Options interface is now more clear and easy to use.
- The maximum size of Guilds has been increased to 500 members.
- Fixed a major issue in Privateering affecting when players can make ship repairs.
- Fixed a bug where players were not allowed to sell a ship if they could not carry the gold received from the sale.
- Pistol and Grenades deal slightly more damage in PVP now.
- The targeting sights for weapons now only turn red when the enemy is within range. The Voodoo Staff targeting sight turns yellow when the target is within range of a Blast and turns red when the target is within range for the selected Hex.

- Health meters for enemy ships should no longer randomly disappear.
- Enemy ships can now attack your ship after you've disabled a flagship (but not after you've boarded it).

- Join either the French or Spanish factions as a mercenary and engage rival mercenaries in epic naval battles

- In an effort to improve the early in-game experience, we have re-launched welcome worlds. This is a scaled down instance of the Pirates world that a player plays in until they launch a ship for the first time. - Added quests for level 4 weapon upgrades for Sword, Pistol, Dagger, Voodoo Doll and Voodoo Staff. Quests for each weapon will automatically appear in your journal when you reach level 15 Notoriety for that weapon.
- Fixed a crash on the TEST server that was occurring when sailing near a Navy ship that was sinking.
- Added an "inventory" to tattoos so you don.t have to remove a tattoo to buy a new one. Tattoos are now similar to clothing and jewelry - you can buy several and "wear" them whenever you want.
- Adjusted the crew bonus so it only applies to players within your general vicinity. The distance is about as far as you can see another player.
- Fixed a bug that was causing numbers for the crew bonus to be displayed incorrectly. The actual notoriety being rewarded was correct, but the amount displayed was too high. These are now in sync.
- Fixed a bug that was causing a large loading chug when getting near an island on a ship.
- Fixed several bugs in the wording of the new quests.
- Fixed a bug in Basic Access mode that was causing an 'Upgrade Now' popup to appear every time you defeated an enemy, if you were carrying a blocked quest.
- Adjusted the crew searching feature, so that if multiple crews are found, it will try to match you with the captain closest to your level.
Release Notes - April 18 2008
- Added level 4 weapon upgrades for Sword, Pistol, Dagger, Voodoo Doll, and Voodoo Staff. You will receive new weapon upgrades through new quest lines. *Update: these are currently turned off as we modify the way you will obtain these quests.*
- Can now purchase ammo pouches. These pouches allows you to carry more ammo (i.e. bullets, cannonballs, daggers, grenades) than the base amount.
- Made it easier to find a crew using your crew panel. To open your crew panel, hit the F key, and then press the "Crew" button. You can now:
- Create a crew: Crew Options -> Start A Crew
- Search for crewmates (once you.ve started a crew): Crew Options -> Recruit Crewmates. There are also advanced options for more discerning captains.
- Join someone else's crew: Crew Options -> Search For A Crew
- Let others near you know that you are looking for a crew: Crew Options -> Looking For Crew
- Added better bonuses for crewing. The notoriety bonus is 20% for a crew of 2, and it ramps up to max bonus of 100% for an 8 person crew. Note: you currently receive the bonus no matter where your crewmates are. We are likely going to change this so the bonus only applies to crewmates in your nearby zone. We'd love to hear your feedback on this!
- Improved whisper functionality.
- Chat panel remains in whisper mode as long as player doesn't click X or try to reply to an absent avatar
- By pressing Alt-Enter, you can automatically whisper to the player that most recently whispered to you
- Chat panel provides more feedback when sending a whisper to someone who went away
- Modified the way NPC's target their attackers: they used to attack the person that first attacked them, but now will switch between attacking the person doing the most damage and others nearby that are doing damage. We will likely modify this after doing some more play testing. Again, we'd love to hear your feedback on this!
- Removed groggy penalty until you reach level 10 in order to make the early player experience a bit smoother
- Shortened the length of the groggy penalty

- Added two additional types of Guild tokens: Limited Multi-use Codes (i.e. a token that can be redeemed 10 times) and Unlimited Codes (a token that can be used forever, until you invalidate it)

Known Issues - February 4, 2008
- Once disabled, Flagships sometimes sink before you can successfully grapple them.
- Workaround: None at this time.
- Using Firebomb cannons on a Flagship will ultimately sink it before you can board the ship.
- Workaround: Don't use Firebomb cannons.
- The Whisper chat window closes the second time you click Whisper and try to send a message.
- Workaround: Close and re-open the Pirate's avatar panel each time you want to whisper to a fellow Pirate.
- The Lookout System seems like it is often not able to find matches for higher level Pirates looking to do PVP
- Workaround: Invite other high level Pirates to PVP before initiating the Lookout System.
- The chat panel sometimes switches to Local when you are chatting with your Guild or Crew.
- Workaround: Click either the Guild or Crew chat tab.
- On rare occasions, pressing the Enter button on the keyboard will not bring up the Chat window.
- Workaround: Click on the gold arrow next to the skull icon, which is found in the bottom left hand corner of the game window.
- Occasionally, on certain Mac computers, the game texture will seem to appear missing or distorted creating an almost snowy effect to the landscape.

Guild name approvals - known issues:
- Several guild names that were previously submitted were accidentally denied -- these will be placed back into the approval process. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
- We have also fixed a bug where a user was unable to submit a new guild name if their previous request for a guild name was rejected.
