This time, Quasi gets the girl! In "The Hunchback of Notre Dame II,"
Quasimodo ventures out of the bell tower and meets Madellaine, a pretty circus performer who longs to be seen for who
she really is. Disney Insider had a hunch that our favorite bell ringer would "love" his new costar.
And who better to bring Quasi's romantic interest to life than
a woman with "Love" as her middle name, Jennifer Love Hewitt? Perhaps best known for her role on "Party of Five,"
Hewitt has also starred in many movies including "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Heartbreakers." But the
talented actress still had an unfulfilled dream.
"I know every song, every word of 'The Little
Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast.' My biggest dream has been to do one of the voices [in a Disney animated film],"
says Hewitt.
"When you meet Madellaine, she's very insecure, quiet, and timid,"
continues Hewitt. "Once she meets Quasi, she realizes that there's somebody out there who also gets shoved around a
lot, but that it doesn't have to be that way. People can be their own special people no matter what they look like
and who they are or where they're from."
From vintage Disney Treasures to props, costumes, and logo items from Walt Disney Pictures' "The Rookie," there's something for everyone at Disney Auctions!
When Hewitt was told that Madellaine was one of the few "Hunchback
of Notre Dame II" characters not to have a song, she said, "I happen to be a singer, but I'm not singing a song?
That's very odd. You know what? I'm going to have a song tomorrow that Madellaine should sing."
Hewitt went home and, along with Chris Canute, wrote the words and
music for the song that plays over the end credits, "I'm Gonna Love You (Madellaine's Love Song)."
"I'm baffled and beyond happy to know that any time I watch the
movie, at the very end will be my small contribution," Hewitt exclaims.
