Brad Bird Whips Up a Little "Ratatouille"

"You're trying to get a lot of different ingredients to work well together -- that's what moviemaking is. It's very much like cooking and trying to make the ingredients balance just right," says Brad Bird. "You take every other art -- composition, design, acting, writing, cartooning, music, and sound -- you're trying to blend them all into one experience."

And, maybe more than anyone, Bird is in a position to know. The director of Disney·Pixar's "The Incredibles" has spent many months cooking up his latest offering, with a talented crew of "cooks." Opening this Friday, June 29, Disney·Pixar's "Ratatouille" is a tale of creativity and honesty, as two unlikely friends join forces to take Paris' world of haute cuisine by storm. It's a unique blend of moviemaking, fine food, and ... rats.

June 27, 1938 - Actress and Disney Legend Kathryn Beaumont is born in London, England. Her Disney credits include "Alice in Wonderland" - as the voice of Alice, and "Peter Pan" - as the voice of Wendy.

June 29, 1908 - Disney Legend and artist John Hench is born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He will make pioneering contributions to such Disney films as "Fantasia" and "Dumbo", and become senior vice president at Walt Disney Imagineering.

I recently went to the Magic Kingdom after being there over 30 years ago. Two rides were no longer there. One was the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the other was the cable car ride. My friend says the Magic Kingdom in Florida never had them, only Disneyland in California, but I'm sure they were there. Who is right?

You are right. The 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction at the Florida Park was closed in 1994 and the Skyway in 1999.
