Catch the Boys of Summer This Spring

Well, summer may still be a long time off, but you can catch the boys of summer right now, up close and personal -- and take in some glorious greenery and family fun into the bargain. It's all happening at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, part of Walt Disney World Resort, where the Atlanta Braves have just begun spring training -- a tradition that is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Eric Wiley is the manager of special and premium events at the complex, and the liaison who keeps spring training running smoothly.

The first of the players -- the pitchers and catchers -- arrived in Orlando on February 15, followed by their teammates on February 20. This week has given them a chance to loosen up, begin training and prepare for their first game of spring training, against Georgia Tech on February 28, and fan anticipation is running high.

February 27, 1935 - An Oscar® (Short Subjects, Cartoons) is won for the Disney film "The Tortoise and the Hare" at the 1934 Academy Awards®, held at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

February 29, 2004 - The 76th Academy Awards® are held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. Screenplay writer Andrew Stanton is awarded an Oscar® (Best Animated Feature Film) for Disney/Pixar's "Finding Nemo."

DAVE'S ANSWER
Walt attended only one year of high school, at McKinley High in Chicago. He left to become an ambulance driver at the end of World War I, and never returned to school. However, many have told me that if you met Walt, you would think he was one of the most educated people you had ever met.
