Frequently Asked Questions

What is "downloading," and how do I do it?

Downloading is the process of copying something off the Web and putting it on your computer (specifically, your hard drive). Either a clickable button or a text link gives you access to the sound. To download a sound or piece of music, click the button or hyperlink (colored text) that initiates the download.

If you haven't installed the application needed to hear a sound, the "Unknown File Type" box appears, offering several options. Click "Save File to Disk" to save the sound or music to your computer's hard drive, then go to Internet Tools to learn how to get the application you need to listen to your downloaded sound or piece of music.

If you have the application needed to listen to the sound on your computer, the "Viewing Location" box appears and the sound begins downloading. If you need help listening to the sound after it has finished downloading, consult the Listening to Sounds and Music section.

Why is my downloading process quitting in the middle?

There are several possible reasons: Your server went down in the middle of the download, the server timed out, your hard drive is too full to store the download, communications between your machine and Disney.com may have been interrupted, or your machine didn't have enough memory available to continue the download to the end. Try downloading the sound again at another time.

Why did my download get all the way through, then quit at the end?

It's probably because your computer requires that you install the needed player software before you download the sound. See Listening to Sounds and Music for more information about how to listen to downloaded sounds, or see Internet Tools for information about how to get the software you need onto your machine. If you're getting an error message at the end of your download, take a look at the Error Messages section for an explanation of common error messages and how to solve the problems that cause them.

Nothing happens when I try to download. What's wrong?

Several things may be causing this problem. Try these possible solutions:

I downloaded my sound, but I can't find it on my computer. Where is it?

Most computers automatically download to your desktop or hard drive. If you can't find the file:
