What does "transfer interrupted" mean? Why does my page only load halfway?

Sometimes your browser doesn't receive all the information (text, graphics, etc.) needed to "create," or build, a page. This may happen because of a computer error, an Internet error, or a human error -- perhaps a link was clicked before the entire page was loaded. Click your browser's Refresh or Reload button. Let the entire page appear before clicking on a link.

How can I speed up my browser?

The speed at which images appear, movies and sounds download, and you move through the Web depends on several things: Your modem speed, your server connection, the number of people on the Web ("traffic"), the kind of computer you're using, and other influences. There are a few basic things you can do to speed up the action:

  • Close all applications except the browser you're using.
  • Keep only one browser window open at a time.
  • Surf the Web during low-traffic times, like Saturday and Sunday.
  • Some browsers are faster than others. Experiment with different browsers to find a faster one.
  • Allocate more memory to your browser.
  • Use a higher-speed modem.
