FAQs

What kinds of sites can be found in Dig?

You'll find Web sites that cover a variety of subjects on Dig -- from "Animals and the Outdoors" to "Games and Toys" and "Computing and the Internet." Dig provides a wealth of useful, entertaining, and interesting information, organized into easy-to-find sections and sub-categories.

Are Dig sites reviewed?

Of course! Every site in the Dig directory has been reviewed by one of our editors. We've done our best to keep inappropriate material out of our collection; however, we cannot control any changes made to Web sites after we have reviewed them. If you ever encounter any offensive material from a link on Dig, please let us know.

How do I use Dig?

You can find sites in Dig by either searching or browsing. To search for a site, just type keywords into the text box at the top of the page and click "search." A list of Web sites containing your keyword(s) will be displayed. If you search for a keyword while in a category (e.g., "Animals and the Outdoors"), the sites returned will be from that category.

To browse for a site, simply click on a category, and you'll get a list of sites selected by our editors. Please note: Use the category links under each listing to jump to other subject categories. Or you can move up and down the category hierarchy by clicking on the links just above the category area.

What are the other features on Dig?

In addition to a rich directory of Internet sites on a variety of topics, you can also link to Dig This! and Web Tours.

Dig This! lists top sites recommended by our editors, usually pages visited in past Web Tours. Web Tours are virtual field trips hosted by DIG's own URL 28.8 (you can call him Earl). Each week, Earl, joined by a guest host who is an expert on the topic of the week, leads a group of cyber-citizens to some of the best sites on the Web about a specific topic or theme. If you ever miss a tour, you can link to it from the Tour Archive, and take a virtual trip across the Internet whenever you wish. Tours depart every Wednesday at 4 p.m. (7 p.m. Eastern), and last for about an hour.

To participate, you must either be a Disney's Club Blast member or be registered with Disney.com. If you've never registered, do it here. Also, verify that you meet the Web Tours technical requirements.

Are there any technical requirements for using Dig?

There are specific technical requirements if you wish to participate in Dig's Web Tour. Tours are conducted using a Java chat client and frames, so you will need a browser that supports both. If you are using one of the following browsers you should be okay. If you are not, you will need to upgrade to one of the following browsers:
