Biography of Samuel E. Wright
One of Sam Wright's greatest screen and song performances may well be as the lovable calypso crab Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. Sebastian has emerged as one of the most beloved and popular characters from the hugely successful film, and "Under the Sea," as performed by Sam Wright, won the 1990 Academy Award® for Best Song. A Tony nominee for his portrayal of the Father in the Broadway production of the "Tap Dance Kid," Sam has helmed several Broadway shows including Cy Coleman's "Welcome to the Club," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Two Gentlemen of Verona" and "Pippin." He was a featured cast member in "Over Here" and has toured with the national road productions of Ken Hill's "Phantom of the Opera" and "I'm not Rappaport." Sam has worked extensively in regional theater throughout the United States.
