'TIS THE SEASON FOR SHARING AT THE DISNEYLAND® RESORT
More than 26,000 People Benefit from Cast Member Community Giving
Anaheim, Calif. — December 16, 2005 — The spirit of sharing is being celebrated at the Disneyland Resort as Cast Members brighten the lives of children and families in need during the holiday season.
Through numerous community outreach and volunteer programs, Disneyland Resort Cast Members are spreading holiday magic to thousands of people throughout Southern California.
- Toys for Tots: Cast Members donated nearly 8,000 toys for children in need, marking a 20 percent increase in toy collection from previous years.
- Adopt-A-Family: Cast Members adopted 181 families in Orange County, providing gifts and household items that touched the lives of nearly 600 people.
- Adopt-A-Senior: Through partnerships with three area senior support facilities, Cast Members adopted 157 seniors and brought extra magic to them during the holidays.
- Adopt-A-Party: Five Disneyland Resort Divisions each adopted a local not-for-profit organization and provided a party for the children and families that receive services from that group.
- Operation Interdependence: Disneyland Resort VoluntEARS partnered with this organization to build more than 2,000 special care packages to be delivered to military personnel overseas.
- Operation Uplift: Disneyland Resort VoluntEARS sent more than 3,000 holiday postcards to military personnel overseas offering their thanks and holiday wishes
- National Family Volunteer Day: More than 250 Disneyland Resort VoluntEARS helped gather 1,800 pounds of nutritionally balanced food items and used them to assemble over 11,000 boxes that were given to those in need.
