Corporate philanthropy provides leadership to and funds our world-class universities, hospitals and arts institutions. It also supports thousands of community-based groups working to expand affordable housing, create economic opportunity, improve public schools, protect the environment and make the lives of children and adults better all over the world.

Anyone searching for corporate philanthropy data knows that the Make-A-Wish Foundation® is one of the top recipients of corporate philanthropy in the world. However, we at Disney understand that the Make-A-Wish Foundation® goes far beyond just the numbers in the corporate philanthropy data world. The Make a Wish Foundation® is a way of bringing happiness to child who desperately needs it.

At Disney, we create opportunities through corporate philanthropy and charitable giving to fulfill the wishes of children facing life-threatening illnesses, support those with life-threatening medical conditions, and help those who have suffered from natural disasters. The number one wish of all children with life threatening illnesses is a trip to a Disney theme park. The Walt Disney Company works with all major wish-giving organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Dreams Come True, A Special Wish, Starlight Foundation and Give Kids the World, and does its best to fulfill each wish requested. The company's corporate philanthropy data shows that in 2001, Disney donated more than 7,000 trips to Disney theme parks, nearly 300 Disney Cruise packages and nearly 85,000 complimentary park tickets, which amounts to more than $10 million in tickets and in-kind support for compassion and make a wish programs. In addition, the company's corporate philanthropy provided shopping sprees at Disney Stores and movie screenings around the country.

In 2002 we found a new way to add a bit of Disney magic to the lives of sick children. Disney's Imagineers donated their time and creativity to help a cause close to home: the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Imagineers designed a completely new look for lobby at the hospital, which celebrates the spirit of children, adolescents and families. The children's cancer unit at Florida Hospital also has a Disney magic touch, thanks to a group of volunteers from Walt Disney World Scenic Shops.
