The Walt Disney Company provides environmental
education through its Environmentality
program. Below is more information about Disney's commitment
to environmental
education and the Environmentality
approach to its many business efforts.
Environmentality
What
is "Environmentality?"
At The Walt Disney Company, we believe that respect for the
environment is an important part of how we do business around
the world. Therefore, we have developed several environmental
education programs to further respect for the environment and
spread "Environmentality" throughout the world. These
programs include:
Jiminy Cricket's Environmentality
Challenge
Jiminy
Cricket's Environmentality
Challenge is a unique partnership between The Walt Disney Company
and the states of California and Florida, encouraging fifth-grade
students to think more about their environment and why it is
"cool to care" about the earth. Read
more about this environmental education program.
Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund
There are many challenges facing wildlife today,
including habitat destruction, conflicts between people and
animals and lack of space for both. As global citizens, The
Walt Disney Company helps experts create solutions to these
issues by providing some of the resources they so desperately
need. The Fund was established in 1995 as a global awards program
for the study and protection of the worlds wildlife and ecosystems.
It provides annual awards to US non-profit conservation organizations
working alongside their peers in other countries. Many
of the recipient organizations concentrate their activities
on biological hotspots - areas rich in plant and animal life
at risk of imminent destruction. Since its inception, the Fund
has supported more than 200 projects in 20 countries. Each project
is evaluated on specific criteria, including scientific methodologies,
magnitude of need, involvement of partner organizations, ability
to impact an area in the near-term, and elements of public education
and community involvement. Read
