Community
service has always been a priority at The Walt Disney Company.
It is carried out through company
philanthropy programs like the VoluntEARS program, Disney
Next Door, Environmentality, and Disneys compassion programs.
Disney believes that good community
relations should be fostered through company
philanthropy and that community
service is an important part of being a good corporate citizen
and neighbor.
VoluntEARS
The Walt Disney Company is very proud of the
Disney VoluntEARS program, which builds on a philosophy of community
service established by our founder, Walt Disney, of applying
the same enthusiasm for innovative ideas to the area of community
involvement and community
relations as he did to motion picture, television and theme
park development. VoluntEARS has not only met but has far exceeded
original expectations in the number of projects, volunteer hours
and outreach into the community. In 2001, Disney VoluntEARS around
the world participated in more than 1,000 projects and programs
and contributed in excess of 352,000 community
service hours, filling 83,000 volunteer opportunities.
In response to the Presidents' Summit for America's
Future held in 1997, The Walt Disney Company and its employees
committed to contribute one million volunteer community
service hours to America's Promise through the year 2000.
It was the intent of this commitment to touch those in need with
the Disney magic and make a positive impact on their lives and
the future of America. Disney VoluntEARS led the effort and in
November of 2000, one month ahead of schedule, achieved the one
million-hour goal.
Anaheim, CA - The Disneyland Resort
The
Disneyland Resort is proud to share the magic of giving. We focus
our efforts on six categories: Volunteerism, Environment, Education,
Health, Arts, and Children and Families. Our legacy of giving
was initiated by Walt Disney himself and is practiced by thousands
of Disneyland Resort Cast Members every year. Through numerous
community events, programs and Cast Member activities, we work
to provide leadership and support to many non-profit organizations
and individuals - the true magic makers - who use the resources
we provide to enrich thousands of lives.

Orlando, FL - Walt Disney World Resort
The
Walt Disney Company knows that from birth to high school graduation,

a difference, Walt Disney World extends a caring hand to the children
of our community. Our programs and partnerships help to build
better futures for our youth and, ultimately, a stronger community
for us all. It is the goal of Walt Disney World youth programs
to engage children in society by creating healthy, guiding relationships
with grown-ups, rewarding free time activities, and offering character-building
opportunities, while helping those children who face adversity.
