This program combines puppetry with computer-generated "virtual
sets," following Pooh and his friends as they explore their
world and encourage a love of books, stories, and words. Centered
around a curriculum of early literacy, this series reflects
the whole child approach, with a focus on Cognitive, Thinking
Skills, and Social Development.
- Social and Emotional Development - Differences
between community members are explored and the expression
of feelings is discussed using the setting of the characters
within a community.
- Cognitive Development - The focus of this show
is on building a rich language environment for young children
in order to show the power of words and how using words
for writing, speaking and reading and telling stories leads
to experiences and consequences.
- Thinking Skills - The show provides many opportunities
for problem-solving and reflection on the processes of reading
and thinking.
- Ethical Development - In a gentle way
there is often a moral to the stories or a summing up of
the implications of actions and what has been learned.
- Creative/Artistic Development - The creative side
of children’s development is encouraged with attention to
storytelling, poems, wordplay and songs.
