DISNEY CHANNEL SERIES HONORED WITH EMMY AWARDS

BURBANK, May 13, 2002 . . . Two learning-based Disney Channel series for preschoolers, "The Book of Pooh" and "Stanley," were honored over the weekend at the 29th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards creative arts ceremony. Mitchell Kriegman, Dean Gordon and Charles Shaughnessy are the recipients of the Emmy Awards. Both series are part of the popular Playhouse Disney programming block on Disney Channel.

"We're tremendously proud of the production quality of our Playhouse Disney block, pleased that our two newest series have been recognized by the Academy and especially thrilled that in the competitive category of animated performer, Charles Shaughnessy won for his portrayal of Stanley's loyal pet -- a fountain of information for preschoolers," said Rich Ross, President, Entertainment, Disney Channel. He continued, "Mitchell Kriegman is a major part of the Playhouse Disney block's success and we're so pleased that he and Dean Gordon have been so honored."

Charles Shaughnessy, the voice of Dennis in "Stanley," Disney Channel's newest animated hit among the preschooler set, won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program. Shaughnessy portrays a talking goldfish, a wise problem-solving friend to six-year-old Stanley Griff. Shaughnessy also stars in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie "Get a Clue" and starred in the long running sitcom "The Nanny." "Stanley" is televised daily (weekdays 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., ET/PT; weekends 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., ET/PT) during Disney Channel's critically acclaimed learning-based programming block, Playhouse Disney. Jim Jinkins and David Campbell are the executive producers. Based upon the "Stanley" books by Griff, it is A Cartoon Pizza Production in association with Disney Channel.

Mitchell Kriegman and Dean Gordon won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children's Series for "The Book of Pooh." It is televised daily (weekdays 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., ET/PT; weekends 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., ET/PT) during Disney Channel's learning-based programming block, Playhouse Disney. This engaging 21st century interpretation of Pooh adds a new dimension to the classic characters, melding the 300-year-old art of Japanese "Bunraku" puppetry with newly developed, computer-generated "virtual sets." "The Book of Pooh" is produced in association with Shadow Projects, where Mitchell Kriegman is president. Kriegman, a two-time Emmy Award winner and esteemed television producer and director, is the creator/executive producer of both "The Book of Pooh" and Disney Channel's "Bear in the Big Blue House."

The 29th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were presented in 44 categories for the creative arts during simultaneous ceremonies in New York City and Los Angeles.
