Casey, Cinematic Artist
I have been a cinematic artist with Avalanche since 2002. I was initially planning to make a career out of freelance art, but was referred to the company by another artist here who liked my work. I choose to work in video games rather than freelance because I love working with people and am much more fulfilled in such a social and creative environment.
As a cinematic artist, I help come up with the stories and dialog for our games. Our department creates the cut scenes for the games, which are the animated sequences between gameplay, and I also work with storyboards and voice talent. As one of the few women in the studio, I had the opportunity to play a key role in the Hannah Montana game, since none of the guys had a clue about dancing or shopping! I got to come up with the gameplay, levels, and story, and was able to do some motion capture for the game.
When I am not at work, I love to people-watch, which helps me with my improv comedy. I also love to paint, write, draw, and travel. I am a self-proclaimed movie snob and a huge fan of music and concerts. Generally, I am pretty easily entertained as long as I am in good company!
