We've all heard of the gold standard. Now, The Walt Disney Company has The Green Standard, a new way of looking at how we operate. In short, this program represents achievable environmental goals that we can all work toward together. The Company is living up to this responsibility by substantially reducing our environmental footprint in the areas of waste, carbon emissions and energy consumption. Each and every employee can be part of this endeavor and can inspire others to take action. Together, our collective efforts can make a big difference! Here is what we have been up to so far:
Don't Talk Trash: Recycle!
Recycle cans, bottles, paper, cardboard, cell phones, electronics and e-media (such as DVDs). Glass, aluminum and paper recycling containers are currently located in DIMG facilities across the globe. In North America, glass and aluminum recycling receptacles can be found in the kitchen areas and paper recycling is available at all of the copy stations. Individual paper recycling receptacles are also available for personal work spaces.
Reduce and Refill!
We have done away with the purchase of individual plastic water bottles across all DIMG work sites. Moving forward, employees are now expected to use reusable mugs for personal use and disposable cups for visitors. In support of this initiative, DIMG supplies a reusable mug for each employee.
Double Up!
When printing and copying are necessary, DIMG employees utilize the duplex printing (double-sided) option where available. All DIMG printers and copies are set to print double-sided as a default!
Be a Low-Rider!
When possible, DIMG employees minimize driving alone during work hours by using environmentally friendly options such as teleconference, videoconference, carpools and public transit. Disney offers programs and incentives to support commuter options!
