About Us

Disney Interactive Studios' Avalanche development studio in Salt Lake City, UT. We are focused on the creation of video games based on Disney intellectual properties as well as the creation of new properties.

Avalanche was acquired by Disney in May 2005. Before the acquisition, Avalanche had operated as an independent developer in the Salt Lake Valley since its inception in 1995. Avalanche started as four guys working in a basement, but quickly grew and established a presence in downtown Salt Lake City, growing from 10 employees in 1996 to 110 when acquired by Disney. We have established ourselves as a leading developer of family-friendly content, culminating in the creation of the Tak and the Power of Juju property. Tak inspired a trilogy of video games and a TV series for Nickelodeon. Other Avalanche titles include Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Hannah Montana Spotlight World Tour, and Bolt.

In early 2009, Avalanche merged with Disney's Fall Line Studio to become one development studio. The Fall Line team brings a focus on developing games inspired by Disney Characters, television shows, and entertainment franchises exclusively for Nintendo consoles such as the Nintendo DS and Wii systems. The team's game releases include The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and Ultimate Band.

The new organization combines the best practices and experience of the two studios. We work together to continue to expand our strong relationship with Pixar, and strive to create high-quality games including both feature film titles and original IP.

Our Studio

We provide a collaborative and creative work environment where our talents and ideas are an integral part of our diverse culture. Our studio provides a very casual atmosphere to counter the work demands that are typical of the industry. We create social opportunities to encourage employees to take a few minutes away from their desks to mingle with their friends and colleagues. There are also opportunities for friendly competition through events like employee softball games and studio-wide ping pong tournaments.

When you leave work for the day, you are minutes from an array of lively entertainment and nightlife. If you are an outdoorsy type, you are a short drive or bus ride from majestic canyons with opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, boating, and more.
