Walker, E. Cardon "Card" (b.
1916) -
How many true stories are there of the boy who starts in the mail room
and ends up being the boss? Well, that happened to Card Walker. Card began
with the Studio in 1938 in the traffic department, and moved slowly up
through the ranks until Walt moved him into the marketing area in the
1950s, where he became a vice president. After Roy Disney's death in 1971,
he was elected president, and he was elevated to chairman of the board
in 1980. It was Card who, in 1975, made the decision to move forward with
Walt's plan for EPCOT.
