Theme park - Amusement parks
and carnivals
had long been popular, but they tended to be
garish collections of unrelated rides with
competing signage and color schemes. When
Walt Disney created Disneyland, he created
something quite different from what had existed
before. The term theme park was coined to
denote a park that had areas and attractions all
based on a central theme or themes, in this case,
"Disney," with coordinated colors and designs,
and therefore much more elaborate than a
normal amusement park.
