People and Places - When Walt Disney decided to omit all evidence of humans in his first True-Life Adventure film, "Seal Island," he had a large amount of leftover Alaskan footage detailing the Eskimos and their lifestyle which had been filmed by his photographers. That footage was eventually edited into the first People and Places featurette, "The Alaskan Eskimo," in 1953 and it won an Oscar. That successful film began a travelogue series of 17 films, which would continue for the next 7 years, and include visits to such places as Switzerland, Japan, Morocco, Lapland, Portugal, Wales, Scotland, Sardinia, and Antarctica.
