Package features - During
the 1940s when
Walt Disney was unable to put together the
financing necessary to produce a full-length
animated feature along the lines of "Bambi" or
"Pinocchio," he decided instead to combine
groups of unrelated short films into feature
packages. These films, starting with "Saludos
Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros" during the
war, included such titles as "Make Mine Music,"
"Melody Time," and "Fun and Fancy Free." They
helped Walt keep his artists busy, and some
needed cash coming in, until he was able to
return to regular animated features with
"Cinderella" in 1950.
