Moore, Fred (1911-1952)
- Joining the Disney Studio in 1930, Fred Moore, or Freddy, as he was
nicknamed, brought great charm to his animation. Walt recognized his talents
and often sent other animators to study the appealing way Freddy handled
a character. It was Freddy's suggestions for revisions in the way Mickey
Mouse was drawn that persuaded Walt to let his primary character be changed
in the late 1930s, and those changes have lasted ever since. Some of the
individual characters for which Freddy was responsible were the Dwarfs,
Timothy, Lampwick, and Katrina.
