Miniatures - One of Walt
Disney's early
hobbies was the collection of miniature dolls,
furniture and other household objects. During his
worldwide travels, he acquired pieces for the
collection, he crafted some pieces himself, and
other pieces were bought for him by friends.
Among his earliest plans for Disneyland was a
"Lilliputianland" where these miniatures could be
displayed. The interest in miniatures also led
Walt to create a small-size train, which he
operated on tracks around his home. When
Walt realized the limitations of miniatures in
entertaining large groups of people, he switched
his interests to the full-size adventures which
eventually populated Disneyland.
