The Machine Shop - At first
set up to repair
and adapt the studio's motion picture cameras,
the Disney Studio's Machine Shop by the 1950s
was called upon for additional responsibilities.
They helped Walt with his early machinery for
Disneyland, pioneering the Audio-Animatronics
process and designing special cameras and
projection systems for Circarama, the 360-
degree film attraction later known as Circle-
Vision. Walt himself used to spend spare time in
the Machine Shop, where the machinists helped
him learn to operate lathes and other machinery
which would be helpful to him in the building of
his backyard miniature railroad.
