MacDonald, Jim (1906-1991) - If the nature
photographers in the field had neglected to
record sound of a particular animal for a True-
Life Adventure, Jim Macdonald would create a
sound that seemed appropriate, and his results
often fooled the experts. He was an extremely
versatile and inventive special effects man for the
Studio, using toys bought in a store, common
household objects, or scrap metal from the local
junkyard. Walt bestowed the greatest honor on
Jim when he selected him to take over the voice
of Mickey Mouse, when Walt himself became
too busy with other projects in the mid-1940s.
