Johnston, Ollie (b. 1912) - Few of the finest
animators have been able to clearly and
concisely write about their craft; Ollie Johnston,
and his partner Frank Thomas, are exceptions.
After beginning with Disney in 1935, Johnston's
talents were soon discovered by Walt, and by
the 1950s, he had been deemed one of Walt's
Nine Old Men. He worked on a total of 24 of
the Disney animated features, many of those as
directing animator. Along with Thomas, a
longtime friend and co-worker, Ollie would later
write several books on the art and history of
Disney animation.
