Insignias - During World War
II, Walt Disney
and his staff were asked to create insignias, or
logos, for military units. After the Disney Studio
had done a few and these were seen by other
units, the number of requests multiplied. The
insignias were used on jackets, and painted on
ships and airplanes. The morale of the units was
helped by the use of familiar Disney characters,
and eventually over 1,200 insignias were
created as a Disney contribution to the war
effort.
