Hyperion Studio - Finding
the need to expand
his studio after his beginnings in a small store on
Kingswell Avenue in Hollywood, Walt was able
to acquire some property and begin building a
studio on Hyperion Avenue, not far away. After
the first small building, many others were added
as the studio grew. After the release of "Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs" the available space
was again insufficient and another move proved
necessary. Disney's years at Hyperion, during
the productive 1920s and 1930s, would forever
be fondly remembered by Studio veterans. They
were years of experimentation, of innovation, of
growth, and of increasing fame, all elements
which came to be curtailed as its very success,
along with stockholders and bank loans, made
the company less independent.
