Distributor - When Walt Disney
began his
company, he was involved in the production of
his films, but he turned to others to distribute
the completed films to theaters. In the early
days, the Disney films were distributed by
Columbia, United Artists, and RKO,
companies that had wide distribution networks
set up throughout the world, but in 1953, in
order to maximize profits Disney decided to
create its own distribution organization, and
Buena Vista Distribution (later known as Buena
Vista Pictures Distribution) was formed. Its first
release was the feature-length True-Life
Adventure, "The Living Desert."
