Concept art - One class of
artist which
emerged at the Disney Studio in the 1930s was
the concept artist. Often coming from the ranks
of fine artists or book illustrators, these men and
women were given wide latitude to create art
which would inspire the mood, feel, color,
characters, and setting of an animated film. Also
known as inspirational artists, these talented
individuals were primarily responsible for the
way the Disney films look on the screen. And
today, their paintings, drawings, and sketches
are highly prized by animation enthusiasts.
