CalArts - One of Walt Disney's
last wishes was
to aid in the establishment of a university, where
all of the arts would be brought together on the
pattern of Caltech. He was instrumental in
helping to join the Chouinard Art Institute with
the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music in
1962, and the new institution became the
California Institute of the Arts, or CalArts. A
sizable portion of Walt Disney's estate went to
the school, enabling them to build a campus in
Valencia, California. Today, the school is highly
regarded and many animation students from
CalArts find jobs at the Disney Studio.
