Blair, Mary (1911-1978) -
Entering what was
primarily a "man's world" at the Disney Studio,
Mary began as a color stylist in 1939, and her
innovative uses of color soon caught Walt
Disney's eye. He invited her to join the group
which went to South America during World
War II and her brilliant splashes of color
inspired segments of "Saludos Amigos" and "The
Three Caballeros." Later on, Walt remembered
Mary when he was looking for a chief designer
for the dolls and settings for It's a Small World,
and he also put her to work on two large mosaic
murals for Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
