Algar, James (b. 1912-1998)
- Beginning at
the Disney Studio in the 1930s as an animator,
Algar moved on to direction and helmed "The
Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of "Fantasia"
(1940). He was asked by Walt to change his
focus and move into the nature film area in the
late 1940s, and he spent several years directing
films in the award-winning True-Life Adventure
Series. At the time of Walt's death, he had
become one of the small group of key producers
at the Studio, specializing in television shows and
films for Disneyland.
