DISNEY.COM 3.0 |
As you all know, the team at Disney Online has been hard at work over the past year, lifting Disney.com to new heights. We appreciate all the collaboration and support we have received from across the Company. To drive the continued growth of our successful portal, we are turning our attention to the evolution of Disney Online with "Disney.com 3.0."
In 2008, Disney.com will build on our success by placing a greater focus on the core elements that have become standard content offerings on the Internet, including Games, Video, Characters, and Community. All of these will be showcased in a new chrome navigation system, an increased focus on Disney's renowned Characters with stories, and an additional content destination hub that showcases all our characters have to offer.
We are also very excited about the creation of four new entertainment areas known as "Master Channels," which will cement our place as the premiere destination for kids and families to play online casual games, watch engaging and original video content, connect with our characters, and engage with other Disney Guests. This is a critical change from the approach Disney.com has previously taken to our Guest experience, and we are looking forward to better serving their needs.
We are currently in the strategic planning stages of this critical initiative and have already begun meeting with many of you as we work towards 3.0. Thank you in advance for your continued support.

VIRTUAL WORLDS |
In October 2007, we successfully launched Pirates of the Caribbean Online -- a virtual world inspired by the popular film franchise, which allows thousands of players to fully experience the adventures made famous in the films, and to explore beyond these boundaries in a quest to become the most legendary pirate on the high seas. Guest response for the product has been great and Pirates Online already has over a million active players! Toontown continues to grow and now has more than a million active players as well.
Disney Fairies Concept |
We have also recently announced development of new virtual worlds built around the popular Disney Fairies franchise, which will be launched later this year, and the animated Disney·Pixar film "Cars." Already, more than four and a half million personalized fairies have been created at DisneyFaries.com, which will ultimately become the gateway to the virtual world.
In other virtual world news, Club Penguin saw more than 2.5 million generous Club Penguin players participating in the Coins for Change philanthropic campaign, donating in excess of two billion virtual coins earned by playing games on the popular children's Web site. The campaign resulted in a $1 million donation to be shared by three charities. This virtual world for kids is scheduled to roll out in international markets over the next 18 months.

MORE EXCITING CONTENT ON DISNEY.COM |
This January and February we pushed Disney.com to new heights with a variety of new and exclusive content for Guests, as well as the most comprehensive Business Unit support to date. In conjunction with the "Phineas and Ferb" series launch on February 1, we premiered an 11-minute episode on the Disney.com Home Page and highlighted Disney Channel's all-new P&F games in a home page game pack. Disney·Pixar's "WALL·E" then took the stage and premiered their Super Bowl Trailer exclusively for Disney.com Guests.
And as an extension of Parks and Resorts Year of a Million Dreams, Disney.com launched our month-long Dreams Come True Sweepstakes which has resulted in over 1.4 million entrants and is on track to deliver the highest number of Vacation Planning DVD requests of all FY08 Alliance initiatives to date. We are proud to say that these amazing initiatives really resonated with our Guests and contributed to our highest number of uniques in the history of Disney.com, surpassing last summer's records.

Q1-EARLY Q2 FY08 TRAFFIC SUMMARY |
With events like this, it's no surprise that Disney.com broke its all-time traffic and registration records in January 2008. According to recently released comScore Media Metrix data, the Disney Online network of sites received 27.5 million unique visitors last month, beating all previous traffic records. This traffic high represents an increase of more than 10 percent compared to the same period last year, and led to a record number of registrations to the site. Some other great tidbits include:
- In Q1 of fiscal year 2008, we attracted more visitors than in any other quarter in Network history: 13% more than Q1 of FY07. That's 2.6 million more people than a year ago.
- Our promotions capitalized on the holiday time off many of our Guests enjoyed this quarter. On New Year's Eve, for instance, 2.5 million people came to the Network, up 17% vs. last year.
- Hannah Montana's sustained popularity is evident as she received over 5.1 million clicks off the home page. That's a single property receiving 11% of all home page clicks over an entire quarter.
- DXD users became more engaged this quarter. The average DXD visitor in December started twice as many games as in February when DXD launched.

866-DIG-HELP |
Did you know that the WDIG Service Operations Center (SOC) is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year? The SOC is prepared to deal with all live-site issues and maintains the latest contact/escalation information for every Web site belonging to the Walt Disney Company.
Please contact the SOC at 866-DIG-HELP (1-866-344-4357) any time you notice a live-site issue and/or cannot reach your DOL Producer or Account Manager. A live-site issue can be anything from a full site being down to a job not deploying properly to the live site via Go Publish. Please do NOT call your local IT department/Help Desk representative if you see a live-site outage or problem. They have no insight into WDIG Web sites or the SOC.
A ticket and an action report are opened for all calls to 866-DIG-HELP, which allow us to track the issue, identify the appropriate person responsible for the fix, and create an archive of learning for future use.
