WELCOME

Disney.com Homepage From the Desk of Paul Yanover, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Disney Online:

As you all know, the team at Disney Online has been hard at work for the last six months creating the new Disney.com. We appreciate all the collaboration and support we have received from across the Company. Over the next several weeks we will be focused on completing the final details as we approach the launch of the new site. We will officially switch over to the new Disney.com during the night of January 29.

To support the future direction and growth of Disney Online, we needed to evaluate our organizational structure. We explored opportunities to align teams, maximize shared thinking, and provide dedicated client interface contacts. The result is a new Disney Online organization, composed of teams of professionals focused on work they are uniquely skilled to perform. Our top-line team dedicated to the Disney-branded online properties is listed below:

Jodie Resnick, Vice President Account Management, leads the business strategy team focused on providing comprehensive account management across all Disney-branded businesses. Jodie and her team are the interface between our internal clients and the Disney Online development teams.

Steve Parkis, Vice President Premium Content, is responsible for development, publishing, and ongoing operations for our premium products online content division. This portfolio includes interactive games, learning, video, and other rich media products.

Jason Davis, Director Online Creative Services, is responsible for creative development, publishing, and ongoing operations for our Disney-branded Web sites. Jason will partner closely with Jodie Resnick's team to deliver on the strategic direction they set.

David Placier, Vice President Consumer Insights and Marketing, leads our customer relationship marketing (CRM), research and consumer insight efforts.

Eric Freeman, Vice President Technology, will ensure that an integrated technology strategy exists across our complete portfolio of products. Eric will also serve as the key liaison to the WDIG Technology organization for seamless integration of all technology efforts.

Mike Goslin, Vice President VR Studio, leads our in-house game studio focused on massively multiplayer online games (MMOG) and online interactive game development.

I am very proud of the amazing work that has gone into the new Disney.com -- particularly given the incredibly aggressive timeframe. The product looks great!

Thank you for your continued support as we approach into the site launch.

Paul

DISNEY.COM AND DISNEY XTREME DIGITAL WALKTHROUGH

We're eager to show off our hard work! On Thursday, January 18, we'll be hosting a walkthrough of our upcoming launch for our selected business-unit partners. We'll have speakers on hand to discuss content programming, Cerebellum, Disney XD, and more! Timing details are forthcoming.

DISNEY XTREME DIGITAL

Disney XD What do you get when you mix Disney Magic with iPod cool? Disney Xtreme Digital!

Launching in January, Disney XD is an online interactive entertainment experience filled with the latest and greatest Disney-branded games, videos, and music. Within this single community environment, Guests will be able to sample the best Disney has to offer, share it with their friends, even post it to their own "channel" to show the world what Disney means to them.

Groundbreaking in virtually every way, Disney XD is built using the most sophisticated technologies out there to deliver Disney content, support personalization and customization, and create a single integrated Disney community. As a result, it offers an unparalleled experience that showcases Disney productions in ways never before realized and creates exciting and dynamic new promotional opportunities.

Some of the ideas already in the works include:
  • A series of Disney Channel concert broadcasts complete with limited-edition online collectibles and product upsells for Disney Records and Buena Vista Home Entertainment
  • An online adventure throughout the network to "Meet the Robinsons" (and then introduce them to all of your online friends!) in the weeks leading up to the movie premiere
  • Property-specific micro-multiplayer games where users can compete against each other in trivia, word scrambles, and more. Continual "Trivia game starting in 45 seconds"-type countdowns will be broadcast across the network to drive traffic across channels and increase community

The ways in which Disney XD can bring Guests closer to your properties and products is limited only by imagination - something not in short supply here at The Walt Disney Company. The Disney XD team, working with you and your Account Manager, is excited to begin brainstorming interactive and entertaining ways to help expand your Brand presence, grow your audience, and showcase your upcoming campaigns.

CEREBELLUM ON THE HORIZON

In conjunction with rolling out the new Disney.com, we will be implementing a new application - Cerebellum - which tracks and synthesizes Guests' behavior on our sites. This application aggregates the various interactions with our sites and identifies Guest affinities for our content in terms of product categories (e.g., Movies), franchises/characters, and life segments (e.g., preschool). The data will be tracked by SWID so a Guest's affinities will be tracked whether they have identified themselves or are anonymous. The affinities can be used for analysis, and eventually we will use them to personalize the experience to improve relevance. This information could also be shared to improve the relevance of other Guest communications. This preliminary implementation will require some tuning once it's in production to effectively reflect affinities among our Guests.

866-DIG-HELP

Did you know that the WDIG Service Operations Center (SOC) is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year? The SOC is prepared to deal with all live-site issues and maintains the latest contact/escalation information for every Web site belonging to the Walt Disney Company.

Please contact the SOC at 866-DIG-HELP (1-866-344-4357) any time you notice a live-site issue and/or cannot reach your DOL Producer or Account Manager. A live-site issue can be anything from a full site being down to a job not deploying properly to the live site via Go Publish. Please do NOT call your local IT department/Help Desk representative if you see a live-site outage or problem. They have no insight into WDIG Web sites or the SOC.

A ticket and an action report are opened for all calls to 866-DIG-HELP, which allow us to track the issue, know who it is assigned to for a fix, and create an archive of learning for future use.
